Demolition of the historic Bank of Coney Island building started earlier this week over strenuous preservationist objections, but now, Amusing the Zillion reports, the Department of Buildings has issued a stop work order on the demolition because debris keeps falling onto neighboring buildings. Demolition will be on pause until Thor Equities builds one neighbor a new wall. Meanwhile, soon-to-shutter bar Ruby's will be opening for the last time again this Saturday. [AtZ; Gothamist]
