Loehmann's Files for Bankruptcy; Epaulet Takes Manhattan

And now, the latest from Racked NY, covering shopping and retail from the sidewalks up.

1) New York City: Clothing chain Loehmann's filed for bankruptcy yesterday. Take heart, shoppers: the chain successfully emerged from bankruptcy in 1999.

2) LES: Carroll Gardens boutique Epaulet has crossed the river to open its first Manhattan store, on Orchard between Stanton and Rivington. File under gentrification watch, because the store sells a line of clogs it just created with a Swedish company and occupies a space that used to belong to Dutch fetish shop Demask.

3) Greenpoint: Shari Lind, meet Nicole Claden. Claden's another North Brooklynite who's happy the old Chopin Theater has gone Starbucks.
