Mother Nature's Breath Wreaking Havoc on Brooklyn Buildings

New, 5 comments

According to weather.com, winds at Curbed HQ are gusting up to 38 mph. The same must be true in Brooklyn, where tipsters are sending along photos of some strange sights. What's the name of the building seen above? The answer, friends, is blowin' in the wind. The answer is blowin' in the wind. Spoiler alert, it's The Brooklyner, whose big banner is almost as ginormous as the building itself. Now it's twisting in the breeze. Look out below!

Meanwhile, up in Greenpoint, land of sturdy construction practices, a tipster noticed the above scene, which was clearly caused by the wind. Or squatters or something:

Construction fencing at 477 Leonard collapsed sometime last night / this morning, falling onto the sidewalk. This is not the first time that it's happened. You may notice that the fencing is not "standard" for construction fences, but some slipshod plywood scheme that's bolted into the sidewalk and then held upright by tiny wooden slats. You can see one of these little wooden braces that came off right by the DOB sign that says the building will be done in November 2009. This project is a complete amateur hour.Don't you mean amateur year? UPDATE: Brooklyner down!
