Norman Foster's Next Stop Might Be Bryant Park Block

New, 1 comment

Now that his Bowery takeover is complete, Norman Foster's next destination is rumored to be the borders of Bryant Park. There, the Post's Lois Weiss reports, his firm may be designing a new tower on 40th Street developed by Eric Hadar (busy block!). The negotiations are still ongoing, but the fact that Foster could design a 300,000-square-foot building?potentially with offices, a hotel, and condos?with 130 feet along Bryant Park is probably an inducement. The building might have to cantilever over 50 West 40th Street, to get around the fact that the building is leased to CUNY for 10 years. But perhaps Foster could use part of that old Shangri-La design anyway.
