Peace, Quiet & Rooftop Parties Await at Harlem's 88 Morningside

New, 4 comments

Harlem's 88 Morningside was already a construction zone when we journeyed up there for some Development Du Jour action last spring, and now? It's still a construction zone. So what's changed at this modern addition to the "Columbia Area" on the northeast corner of Morningside Park? Sales, baby! The 73-unit building, which is dominated by one-bedroom apartments, has 13 in contract, according to StreetEasy, including some of the building's largest pads. Prices range from the high $300,000s to around $900,000, perfect for daddy-supported Ivy Leaguers and people looking for their own little taste of this Harlem development boom thing.

We headed back to the building recently to get a look at how things are progressing. Amenities like the gym, media room/lounge and rooftop (cabana alert!) were still under construction, as were many of the apartments on the upper floors. There are some furnished model units down below to give buyers a taste of what owning some big windows facing a park could be like, even though the lower floors make you feel like you can step right out your living room and onto the sidewalk. Our lawyers would like us to recommend that you not try that at home.
