Under the Sea at Battery Park; Another East Village Dorm for NYU?

BATTERY PARK?Plans for an aquatic-themed carousel in Battery Park have been, ahem, floating around for years, but a tipster tells us that SeaGlass is finally happening: "The Downtown Alliance has announced that they will be breaking ground tonight at 6PM on the Sea Glass Carousel at Battery Park. Per the design, this should be the most spectacular carousel in the country, if not the world. You will be riding sea creatures and have the feeling that you’re actually swimming in the water." Yeah, suck it, Dumbo! For what its worth, the SeaGlass website says "Groundbreaking Spring 2010." [CurbedWire Inbox]

EAST VILLAGE?Think the recent Third Avenue rezoning will prevent NYU from adding a new dorm to its East Village holdings? Think again! A Curbed tipster passes along a "well sourced rumor" that NYU reps were spotted kicking the tires on SVA's 10th Street Residence (you know, this one) with an eye on leasing or buying the building. SVA, of course, has the Lower East Side's Desert Storm to fill. [CurbedWire Inbox]
