Dumbo Landmarks Seeks Rooftop Addition; Swede in at Sky Garage

New, 1 comment

DUMBO?Brownstoner reports that the Walentas family is once again looking up in Dumbo. The conversion and rooftop addition atop 25 Washington Street is underway, and now the Walentas' Two Trees wants to add a new topping across the street at 30 Washington Street. The two-story addition is one of several building tweaks that the Landmarks Preservation Commission will hear about tomorrow. It might not be smooth sailing. The Historic Districts Council says the rooftop addition "changes the massing of the building and obstructs views of other buildings in the district. Besides the addition’s size, the design does not recall the type of rooftop accretions that might be found on top of an industrial building." Please note, if you develop accretions, contact a doctor immediately. [Brownstoner; CurbedWire Inbox]

WEST CHELSEA?We just heard that 200 Eleventh Avenue's last remaining non-penthouse unit, a $5.95 million 3BR on the fifth floor, has been sold to a Swedish buyer. And that little international detail should tip off who brought in the buyer: Swedish celebribroker Fredrik Eklund, who is on a one-Curbed-mention-per-day average right now. Guess the Sky Garage is getting a Saab. [CurbedWire Staff]
