Who knew that while Williamsburg's Edge was having us over for beers and chicken satay, the real party was going on upstairs? A penthouse at 22 North 6th Street, the complex's taller south tower, has sold for $2,240,150, according to city records. That makes it the neighborhood's most expensive condo sale of the year by a wide margin?the second place sale, a penthouse at waterfront rival Northside Piers, clocked in at $1,527,375, according to StreetEasy. There was never an online listing for #PH1-C, but it's a 2,000-square-foot 3BR/3BA with a private 640sqft terrace. Read on for the floorplan. This is not part of the Edge's record-breaking $5.145 million penthouse combo, which went into contract back in 2008 and will be closing soon, an Edge rep tells us. So who's bullish enough on Williamsburg to plunk down $2.2 million?
One of the buyers is an LED artist who recently relocated from Hong Kong to New York. (In addition to his personal artistic pursuits, he's done work for Mercedes and Intel.) We're thinking this isn't part of that 'Burg record-shattering $5 million deal, and if it is, we're going to LED art school, damn it.
Here's a rendering from the Edge's website of the penthouses, which are all priced above $2 million, followed by the floorplan for #PH1-C. Williamsburg: It's back, baby!
