The towering Eventi hotel straddling the Chelsea/Midtown border, also home to a stack of rentals called The Beatrice, is lighting up its new plaza. The 15,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor public space, connecting West 29th and West 30th Streets, was slated to open in October, but for now it's still blocked off at the sidewalks.
Peeking through the cyclone fence, where lots of tables and chairs are seen amid a grove of trees, the plaza looks almost ready. A raised fountain bubbles up from a broad plateau of black stone, reflecting columns of light and the ridiculously huge TV multi-media art screen facing the hotel. Along the lower floors the bright lights of the tower's futuristic Food Parc and Bar Basque restaurants spill across the plaza, giving off a radiant red.
