Construction union contracts expire on June 30, and developers are already playing hardball, saying they'll stop building if the unions don't agree to 20% cuts in costs, benefits, wages. Talks have broken off for the holidays, and the Daily News lays out the scenarios: "Contractors could reach new deals. Or unions could walk off the job and paralyze construction sites. Or developers could bring nonunion workers onto high-profile midtown jobs and brace themselves for the consequences." [NYDN]
