Owners of apartments at 15 Central Park West have been taken to task before for failing to flip their staff studios for appropriately high prices. An appropriately high price, until now, would have been around $1.5 million, but the bar has just been raised. Two years after paying $1,028,229 for it, the owner of staff studio #601 has flipped it for $2.6 million, according to a deed that just hit public record. The buyers are Ashok and Margaret Varadhan, who paid a little over $16 million for 15 CPW's apartment 9D in 2007. Even though the staff studios are the least inspiring units in the Limestone Jesus (with one possible exception), there are only 27 of them, which can make for some stiff competition when one comes up for sale. Then again, $2.6 million is probably small change to a top Goldman trader who really needs a place for the help. We just hope that maid isn't expecting anything else for Christmas!
