Turns out it's the week of lawsuits against Brooklyn megaprojects that were approved months ago. Not only is there a new Atlantic Yards legal motion, but New Domino, which until now has been quiet on the legal front, is getting in on the action. The Real Deal reports that project opponents sued the city last week over the Domino environmental review process. The group's lawsuit argues that the city didn't properly consider the sugar refinery redevelopment's impact on area traffic, open space, and density. The similar environmental impact suit filed for Atlantic Yards was a rare victory for the project's opponents, but it didn't exactly get them far in the long run (at least not yet). Maybe someday Domino, too, can hope to be a musical.
