It's tough to find a landlord that isn't pissing off diehard Coney Island fans these days, but Joe Sitt's Thor Equities is still #1 when it comes to getting the blood boiling. After preservationists failed in a last-ditch effort to get some sort of Coney Island Historic District set up, the developer has been wielding its hammer all along Surf Avenue. Amusing the Zillion reports that the latest victim is the Shore Hotel (built circa 1903?here's a great remembrance), and the next building to meet its maker is the Henderson Building next door. What are they making way for? Coney Island's future! Oh, and tacos.
