Gimme Shelter

The hipster residents of Greenpoint's planned homeless shelter may take a buyout offer from their landlord, which would make the path to turning the building into a shelter clearer. Community members mounted quite the flyers-on-trees campaign against the 200-bed men's shelter, and a bunch of the building's current tenants applied for protection under the city's revamped loft law, which would have made it impossible to get them out. Tenant-landlord drama ensued, but all may soon be resolved, according to the Brooklyn Paper. Might want to clean up that graffiti before the new neighbors arrive. [BK Paper; previously]
