Park Avenue's Red Room Passes Between Famous Families

Like its inhabitants, the sales history of the duplex maisonette at 778 Park Avenue is well-known. The 5,000-square-foot co-op once inhabited by conservative thinker William F. Buckley Jr. started off asking $24.5 million in 2008. After a break, it came roaring back onto the market?and into the PriceChopper Hall of Fame, with a $12 million asking price. The Observer reports that it's finally found a pair of buyers, Mark and Renee Rockefeller. (Yes, those Rockefellers.) No word on the final sale price, but the apartment was last asking $10 million. Take one more look through in our old gallery. And don't worry, high society, Brooke Astor's place in the building is still available.
