It's been almost a year since a foreclosed 5,500-square-foot Trump International Hotel and Tower penthouse sold in a bankruptcy auction, bringing the apartment's long run of financial struggles to an end. Its past owners included bankrupt Italian film producer Vittorio Cecchi Gori, and then a Russian family who were prepared to spend $18.5 million on the apartment until they found out just how much a renovation would cost. The auction winner, an LLC connected to Malaysian rich guy Jho Lo, appears to have spent just over $33 million on the place. But it still might not have gotten its renovation (the floorplan above comes from an old listing) because it's just changed hands again, this time for less money. The new buyers appear to be Linda Mirels and Philip Kirsh, owners of a lower-floor unit in the 1 Central Park West building. They paid an even $30 million for the apartment, which was never officially listed.
