Did farming need a "New York-style solution?" Absolutely, which is why we're happy that Manhattan's RAAD Studio has stepped in with its Chicken Co-op, featured in the New York Times today. The "Modernist, high-end chicken coop" is "like the condo craze of two years ago, except you're building this luxury condominium for chickens," according to its creator. For more fun, check out the Chicken Co-op website, which features floorplan porn and a list of amenities ("floor to ceiling windows"). How do we know this isn't a joke? The $3,500 price tag. Though, at $76/sqft and the occasional free meal, that's not a bad deal.
