With a change in the law on single-room-occupancy hotels scheduled for 2011, Upper West Siders are getting anxious. The law will no longer allow SROs to rent out rooms for fewer than 30 days, which could mean that boutique UWS hotel the Alexander might be replaced by Samaritan Village, a 200-bed homeless shelter. Residents of 135 Metropolitan Avenue might find that preferable. [NYDN]
