A tipster recently sent in the above photo, wondering why the Bank of America Tower and 4 Times Square were suddenly all lit up. Today's Post has the answer: it's a Durst organization surprise! Developer Douglas Durst has illuminated the tops of both buildings with a $3.5 million energy-efficient light extravaganza that switches from blue to green to gold. As the Post puts it, "Viewed from the Queens waterfront...1 BP appears to be courting the Chrysler Building in a graceful pas de deux." The ultimate plan is for the lights to play off another illuminated spire at 1 World Trade Center. Uh oh: love triangle?
