Nolita's 211 Elizabeth Street Sells Out at Last

New, 3 comments

When Nolita's Roman & Williams-designed 211 Elizabeth Street hit the market, one commenter called the place "a breath of fresh air compared to the post-modern cookie-cutter glass-window garbage that is getting built everywhere." With an endorsement like that (and custom bicycles!), what building even needs to worry about brokers? But the listings took a several-month hiatus from the market, and though they were back by fall of 2009, it's taken until now for all 15 units in the building to sell out. There have been a few high-profile buyers in Billy Joel and Gabriel Byrne, both of whom paid slightly below asking price for their apartments. How about the rest of the sales?
Discounts are in the 1.9 to 4 percent range, with one exception: unit #4N, which sold at 14.7 percent off in August 2009. The most recent buyer paid $2.403 million for #4S, listed for $2.45 million after a PriceUpper last year. So 211 Elizabeth wins again.
