Cooper Union Gets Branded; Boutique Hotel Rumormongering

EAST VILLAGE?We're not sure the new Cooper Union building really needs any help being recognized, but a few days ago we saw a worker finally affixing the 41 Cooper Square decals to architect Thom Mayne's Bowery mindbender. Guess the pizza delivery guys were having trouble finding the place. [CurbedWire Staff]

EAST VILLAGE?And right next door to the Cooper Union, the equally futuristic Cooper Square Hotel is the subject of yet another ownership rumor. Vanishing New York hears that, "The people who run the Soho Grand just bought the Cooper Square Hotel." We've heard nothing of the sort, but the Soho Grand is owned by Hartz Mountain Industries, which also owns numerous Cooper Square buildings already, such as the Village Voice building, from where these very words were just typed.
