It appears that a construction crew got a bit carried away with its work at 200 Smith Street in Cobble Hill. There's a permit for a horizontal enlargement of the third floor, but as Pardon Me For Asking notes, the quaint little structure has plain ceased to exist! Fear not, the Department of Buildings just slapped a Stop Work Order on the site, so that leftover rubble isn't going anywhere. Brownstoner suspects this will stay a three-story, two-unit building when all is said and done, but this whole process has left us really confused about what Merriam-Webster told us about the meaning of the word "enlargement."
