Fun With Urban Planning

A bunch of landscape architects and planners recently came up with three big-picture ideas for fixing the BQE trench, the sunken BQE segment that nobody seems to like very much. Those ideas?planting trees, building new bike and pedestrian bridges, and adding a green canopy?start at $10 million, with no actual funding in place. Still, people voted on their favorites, and the EDC now reports that 96 percent of residents liked the new trees and the green canopy. Noise will, we suspect, remain an issue until personal cones of silence are invented. [NYCEDC via 'Stoner]
