Bryant Park Gets Urban; Village Store Has Leather Floors; More!

And now, the latest from Racked NY, covering shopping and retail from the sidewalks up.

1) Midtown: The latest neighborhood to be conquered by the trendy threads and naughty books of Urban Outfitters? Midtown, specially Bryant Park, as a big new store gets ready to open at 521 Fifth Avenue. The storefront looks appropriately corporate.

2) West Village: Parisian Pierre Hardy was just on Jane Street to open his first U.S. store, which sells shoes, bags and small leather goods. Oh, and the floors are leather, too! Said Hardy of the renovated garage, "I'm a boy, and I like architecture, so I try to combine these two feelings."

3) Midtown Speaking of the French and architecture, check out the stunning redesign of the 5,000-square-foot Dior boutique on 57th Street. Peter Marino got all Francophile up in that piece.
