Murray Hill Townhouse Skips Auction, Still for Sale At a Discount

New, 1 comment

Last fall, we?and many wiser market-watchers?were floored when a foreclosure auction was scheduled for a Murray Hill townhouse. At the time, that house, 221 East 31st Street, had a lien of $692,400 and was on the market for $4.195 million. Gavel day? October 7. But that day came and went, and while poking around StreetEasy this week, we noticed that the 5BR, 5.5BA property is still up for sale. It's on its sixth asking price, $3.995 million, and its fourth broker. We asked that broker to clarify the situation, but she had no intel, so we can only congratulate 221 East 31st on its survival skills so far.
