The Andrea Hastens Fort Greene/DoBro Rental Apocalypse

New, 14 comments

For a long time, it was unclear whether the Myrtle Avenue building planned by supermarket magnate John Catsimatidis would get built or go into a market-wait-out deep freeze. Well, the final word is: it lives, it is called The Andrea, and it is on the market. The going rates for the 95 units at 218 Myrtle Avenue, the Brooklyn Eagle informs us, are $1,225 to $1,495 for studios, $1,600 to $1,825 for one-bedrooms, and $2,385 to $2,800 for two-bedrooms. It's just the first of four buildings Catsimatidis plans for the street, with a proposed total of 415 units. So how's a new renter to decide between The Andrea and the approximately 27 other new rental building options in the neighborhood? This might help: a Catsimatidis spokesman tells the Eagle The Andrea will be getting a "national drugstore chain" and a supermarket.
