Grumpy Post firebrand Andrea Peyser has made a sport of attacking the car-free Broadway pedestrian plazas as un-New York, and she's finally weighed in on the plazas going permanent. Surprise, she's not happy, but she's more worried about the idea being exported to other 'hoods: "Imagine a city chockablock with pedestrian plazas fit for smokers and tourists. A place where driving is a memory, shopping is agony, and fresh air nonexistent. That's what the Bloomberg administration has in mind, as it travels, full-steam ahead, with plans to turn outer-borough streets into tobacco-friendly parking lots. There is no escape." [NYP]
