Essex House Pad Celebrates Year On the Market With 18 Percent Off

We like to celebrate birthdays with roller skating parties, but Unit #3101/3118 at Central Park South's luxury hotel/condo Essex House seems to prefer partying with the PriceChopper. The 1,300-square-foot, 2BR, 2BA apartment is coming up on one year on the market, and it's just gotten its second chop, an 18 percent cut to $3.995 million. The apartment was originally asking $5.25 million, so about 24 percent has come off the price over the past year, which at least gives a firm sense of what the murder discount is these days. But it's not all bad: the place is still asking $3,073 per square foot.
