Garfield Sparta, Now With Furniture, Keeps Fighting To Expand

New, 1 comment

It looked like the Board of Standards & Appeals had pretty firmly made up its mind against a proposal from the developers of Enrique Norten's 580 Carroll Street (aka Garfield Sparta) to add more housing on the site (instead of that front yard). But we clearly underestimated the tenacity of the Spartans, because Brownstoner reports the project is going in front of the BSA again next week. The developers are now arguing that the "subterranean chambers of the substation" were a hardship for the project. We're not really sure what that means, but the upshot is the developers are still fighting to get those three additional townhouses built on the Park Slope site. While they battle it out, let us turn our minds to happier things. Based on the latest photos of the building (right), it looks like there is now furniture in 580 Carroll's model units!
