End of the Wiener for Coney Island's Feltman's Building

New, 6 comments

Just when the grassroots campaign to spare Coney Island's historic Feltman's building from execution was getting off the ground, photos posted this morning on the Coney Island message board show that, well, let's just hope the campaigners didn't sign a lease for office space. The building housed the restaurant where an ambitious Polish immigrant named Nathan Handwerker got his start making hot dogs before branching off into his own Nathan's Famous business in 1916. As for that mural on the side of the building said to be worth $250k? The wrecking ball is a harsh art critic, friends.
