When we checked in with Astoria's 11-24 31st Avenue last week, a few commenters wondered what was going on with the Sohmer Piano Factory conversion nearby at 31-01 Vernon Boulevard. We were curious, too, so we did a little digging. The sales office voicemail says the office is temporarily closed, and according to the Elliman broker who was handling the building's sales, the 69-unit building went off the market before the holidays. She's not sure what's in store for the 1887 building?where amenities include a pet spa?but StreetEasy shows one $590,000 one-bedroom in contract. Do we have a future Astoria rental on our hands, or do the Piano Factory prices just need a little tuning? While we wait to find out, let's take a look at what kind of sales prices the building was hoping to achieve.
