Interstellar Public Art

Hey, astronauts! Those bright-colored swirls you see out the space shuttle window are actually New York City rooftops, painted by artist Molly Dilworth to be visible from space (and in Google Earth satellite images). The Hendershot Gallery rooftop on 27th Street has already been painted using leftover house paints. Sadly, for those of us who are earthbound, it could be months or years before the images show up on Google Earth. [NYDN]
