The EPA will name the Gowanus Canal a Superfund site, perhaps even this morning, an agency employee tells the Courier Life newspaper. What this means, other than triggering a federally funded cleanup of the canal that could take decades, is that the Toll Brothers will abandon its ambitious mixed-use development on the banks of the "Lavender Lake."
