Marble Triplex Forced off its High Horse at Former Tribeca Stables

New, 6 comments

A condo at the landmark American Express Carriage set off some alarm bells last month with a little bit of fire sale language. Still, we thought Marble House, the 9,200-square-foot triplex within the building (with a separate entrance at 60 Collister Street) would make it through okay. After all, it's got a swimming pool and its own website. Alas! Marble House's price just got chopped 14 percent, to $18.5 million, according to the listing's StreetEasy page. It was actually the condo's second Chopper encounter since its optimistic $24.5 million debut a year ago, making for a total loss off its list price of nearly 25 percent. For your average "Greenwich-style" Tribeca pad facing a tough market, that might not seem like so much. But this is Marble House, where the kitchen sink is made a single two-ton piece of Carrara marble and the developer and designer traveled through Italy to handpick some of the other features. Say it ain't so!
