Gothamist goes hunting for proof of their existence and finds some Landmarks correspondence about tunnels underneath West 34th and West 38th streets, used in the 1870s to transport cows to slaughterhouses. Nomination to the National Register of Historic Places has been under consideration since 2004. Are the landmark-makers still ruminating? [Gothamist]
