The latest headlines from Curbed Hamptons, our outpost on the East End...
1) A bunch of Hamptons summer rental properties went up for auction through online auctioneer Bid on the City. The rental price for each property dropped $500 every 15 seconds until someone agreed to the price, resulting in, for example, the rental of a $135,000 house for $89,000.
2) Retired tennis pro Guillermo Vilas has listed his Sag Harbor cottage for $995,000. The listing bills it as a "collector's item," not because of its sporty connections but because it was built in 1646. Maybe.
3) The market news out of Manhattan is looking better, but what about the North Fork rental scene? Not so great. The potential bonus for city folk: better deals on weekly rentals.
