A few months after the City Council voted down the Bronx's Kingsbridge Armory project after a fight over the terms of a community-developer agreement, the New York City Bar Association is suggesting the city get rid of the Community Benefits Agreement altogether. Why? The agreements open up too many opportunities for corruption and the city shouldn't get in the middle of negotiations between developer and community. But, says a Related lawyer, "I don't think it's reasonable to assume that this genie goes quietly back in the bottle." Do they ever? [NYT]
