Hotel Springs From Failed Condos; Trump Soho Ribbon-Cutting

New, 7 comments

MIDTOWN?Back in the early days of Curbed we had word of a Peter Som-designed condo conversion (and rooftop addition) at 485 Fifth Avenue, a classy oldtimer across the street from the NYPL. That project stalled out and was eventually taken over by Hyatt for a second Manhattan location of its new Andaz brand (the other one just opened down at 75 Wall Street). Now construction is about complete and big Andaz signage has gone up at street level. The 184-room hotel designed by Tony Chi will open later this spring with rates starting at $295/night. Some photos are up on the Andaz site. [CurbedWire Staff]

SOHO?The Trump Soho will finally do its business on the neighborhood this Friday, and even though the Trumps are downplaying the hoopla a ribbon-cutting is scheduled for 11 a.m. In attendance: The Donald™, The Donald Progeny and, uh, Deputy Mayor Robert C. Lieber. Can Lieber please proclaim it Trump Soho Day? [CurbedWire Inbox]
