Harlem's townhouse market, as we discussed yesterday, has seemed to parallel the market as a whole, with average sales prices down sharply and some sellers struggling to make deals. But for the truly wacky townhouse, there is always an exception to be made. The Times reports the sale of 22 West 120th Street, owned by sculptor and designer Sandy Starkman. Starkman got $1.9 million for the house, which was asking $2.1 million (down from $3.4M), or $11,600/month as a rental, in October. Doesn't sound so crazy...until you remember that this was the place with a sculptural menagerie and 40 bathrooms.
