Purple People Pranksters?

Community Board 1 has made it pretty obvious that they really do want NYU to build in Lower Manhattan, a proposal that would keep an expanding NYU from driving Greenwich Villagers all the way up the wall and save FiDi from yet another office building. But NYU is suspicious of just how hard the Lower Manhattanites are trying. NYU VP Alicia Hurley tells DNAinfo: "“I can’t tell if this is for real or if it’s some crazy political scheme...It has just felt very aggressive to us.” Because it's much more likely to be an elaborate anti-NYU prank.
