Zac Posen's Quirky Condo Creation Unveiled in Flatiron District

Good goth almighty, look what fashion designer Zac Posen has done to the duplex model unit at 16 West 21st Street, the new nine-unit sliver building finishing up construction and hitting the market any minute now. The boutique building is a well-publicized collaboration between Posen and architect Morris Adjmi, the type of all-star (read: expensive) team that developers have been reluctant to assemble in recent years. Because the 14-story white-glass building has scaffolding up, the 8' windows aren't the stars of the show quite yet. So Posen went all out in staging the 2,700-square-foot, 3BR, 4BA, duplex (on floors 10 & 11). Risky? Well, with a marketing campaign featuring fornicating action figures, let's just say caution is not a concern at 16w21.

The model is available furnished, except for the artwork from Posen's personal collection (there are a lot of nudes hanging on the walls?not your typical non-offensive staging). Prices range from $1.8 million to $6 million, for a two-bedroom up to the triplex penthouse (all floorplans can be seen on our last post on the building), and the model will ask just over $4 million. According to reps, there are 500 people on the waiting list to get a private showing before the units hit the open market. Feel those 2007 vibes, baby! For those seeking a deeper read, The Real Deal chatted with Posen about his design inspiration. Digging it?
