Urban Farming

New, 5 comments

A company called Brooklyn Grange has started planting a rooftop farm in Long Island City, and the Times has pictures! The farm, on the 40,000-square-foot roof of an office building hoping to improve its environmental efficiency, will grow tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, and other veggies chosen because they're likely to do well on an open, sunny roof planted with soil that is, uh, not actually soil. Not exactly your family farm! [NYT]
