The Brooklyn Museum is getting ready to auction off its collection of facades and stone ornaments from buildings torn down in the 1950s through 1970s. An art dealer and some friends collected the pieces, either from construction crews or by climbing up scaffolding and removing items from buildings themselves. There's some drama over who should get first dibs on the collection now, but maybe the MTA should pick up some of it to improve the latest fauxcade? [NYP]
