New, 7 comments

BED-STUY?The Shelton, a 14-story affordable co-op at 775 Lafayette Avenue, topped off yesterday (construction shot and rendering above). The building has a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom residents ranging in size from 667 to 1,180 square feet, and the 83 income-restricted units (a lottery will start up next month) are estimated to go for $126,500 to $442,500. Construction should wrap up in March 2011. Check the Shelton's website for more info. [CurbedWire Inbox]

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN?As promised, the new 25-story Sheraton Hotel at 228 Duffield Street cut the ribbon today, complete with an appearance from Marty Markowitz. Owned by the Lam Group, the 321-room hotel will compete with the Marriott for Brooklyn's corporate event/bar mitzvah business. DoBro residents will get something out of it, too: Martinis! Per a press release, "Grubstake, a full-service restaurant with bar combined with a separate Lobby Lounge, provides the credibility of Manhattan and the charm of Brooklyn. The Bar will serve as Downtown Brooklyn's premier martini and cocktail hangout with a strong focus on seasonal drink lists." [CurbedWire Inbox]
