Christopher Meloni is plotting his exit after a long run on Law & Order: SVU, and a major change like that may have him thinking he needs a fresh start. That's but one reason we came up with for why Meloni and his wife just paid $910,000 for this 800-square-foot 1BR, 1BA apartment at 88 Greenwich Street, the 37-story Art Deco tower in the Financial District converted from rentals a few years back and now going by Greenwich Club. Wet Hot American Summer's fridge humper already owns a pretty fancy spread in the celeb-heavy Park Imperial on West 56th Street, so here's another fun theory: FiDi pied-a-terre! Or, yawn, investment property. He got a discount on the deal.
The apartment in the full-service condo building was first listed for $995K, but the price had been reduced to $925K by the time Meloni came calling. The seller paid $926K for the place back in 2007, and has since gotten married and relocated to Connecticut, so we can see why she was willing to take a bit of a loss. Enjoy a bit of brokerbabble:
Open & airy one bedroom enjoys exquisite direct southern views of the Hudson River, Governor's Island, & the Downtown cityscape from the exclusive Tower of the building, where there are only 5 units per floor & laundry right across the hall. The designer kitchen has the highest end stainless steel appliances (Viking, Sub-Zero, Fisher & Paykel) as well as rift-cut white oak custom cabinetry & floors, Pietra Carnico lava stone countertops & backsplash. The lovely & intelligently designed bath features Mont Blanc glass composite countertops & Siera Negra lava stone floors, overhead rain shower, & Kohler soaking tub.Already a mouthful, and we didn't even mention the kitchen's built-in ladder! Meloni did great if you believe the $1.1 million appraisal mentioned in the listing?an appraisal dated Nov. 2008. The world of Law & Order isn't the only one that's changed since then, friends. Here's the floorplan, which puts the size as 736 square feet:
