LOWER EAST SIDE?The latest twist in the saga of the Orchard Street Hell Building: sudden activity! From next to 180 Orchard Street, a tipster writes: "We live in an apartment on ludlow next to the Orchard hell site. This week we've heard noises of construction (hammering, rotary saws), I'm guessing about 4-5 workers on site, hidden beneath the second story. I also spotted what seemed to be a site super giving a tour of the site to a rather young looking architect (i'm making a lot of wild guesses here but i am a rather young-looking architect so i know my own). really hope this is not moving forward... we've really enjoyed living in this apartment but will leave if this building goes up." We're too shaken to respond to any of this. [CurbedWire Inbox]
PARK SLOPE?Closings are slated to begin at 500 Fourth Avenue on June 1st, now that the Scarano-designed building on Brooklyn's Park Avenue has its Temporary Certificate of Occupancy. The 156-unit building is priced from $342,000 (for 539-square-foot studios) to $1.426 million (for a 3,000-square-foot duplex "townhouse"). The building also recently got FHA financing approval.
