Ironically, luxury apartments might have been the only thing that could have saved St. Vincent's Hospital from bankruptcy, but don't tell that to the waves of folks scrawling messages on the shuttered Greenwich Village hospital's plywood. Vanishing New York has photos from the scene on Seventh Avenue, which has morphed into an impromptu memorial for the bankrupt institution. The condo thing could still happen, but we don't think developers will be recycling that plywood during construction.
