Been some time since we checked in with construction at hotelier Vikram Chatwal's Dream Downtown Hotel at 346 West 17th Street, a former homeless shelter behind the swank Maritime Hotel (both designed by O'Toole Building architect Albert Ledner). Vanishing New York reports the Dream still looks like a big metallic chunk of Swiss cheese?no surprise there, but here's another observation: The hotel "rises blindingly to the sun, scalding all human eyes that dare to look upon it." It's a good thing no one walks the streets of MePa before midnight.
