The controversial hotel planned for 145 Perry Street (at Washington Street) in the Far West Village has gone from wavy bricks to downsized understatement to lifeless corpse. So says Community Board 2 Chairperson Jo Hamilton to The Villager. Hamilton calls the 85-room high-end inn "officially dead," and hints that the developers may opt for a townhouse project on the site. That would actually fit in with the hotel's sister development next door, a pair of pricey townhouses at 705 and 707 Washington Street. The area is about to get downzoned and construction has yet to begin, so this one does look dunzo.
