Italian artist Bernardo Siciliano's 1999 oil painting of Williamsburg's Domino Sugar refinery was auctioned by Sotheby's in Milan for a winning bid of 34,350 euros, more than double the auction estimate. Based on what a seventh grade painting teacher once told us about art imitating life, it's clear that the developers who have spent $125 million so far on turning the complex into a 2,200-unit mini metropolis should cash out now while collector interest is at an all-time high!
